Dr. Philip Raber grew up in Sugarcreek, Ohio as the youngest in a family of five brothers. A family tradition of racing Soap Box Derby resulted in Dr. Raber winning a National Soap Box Derby championship in Akron in 1976. He is a 1983 graduate of Garaway High school.
Following college, Philip first obtained a
master's degree in Public Health from Ohio State University. His desire interact with people on a more personal level led him to study optometry at Indiana University. Upon graduating with honors in 1994, he was offered a one-year residency at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. There he received advanced training in the treatment and management of eye diseases. This experience prepared him for 6 years of medical missions in the countryside of Haiti, under the direction of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists. During that time "Dr. Phil" as he was called in Haiti would treat hundreds of patients per week.
Dr. Raber now resides in Kidron with his wife, Myriam and their four children.
Dr. Raber is a member of the Brain Injury Association of Ohio and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association
